Spring is God

April 26
I finally dusted off my bike this morning and gave it a spin. As I rode the cracked sidewalks and winding bike path, I had a moment of clarity, which believe me, does not come very often these days for me. Where do you find God? Today I found God in Spring. Spring is God's voice that comes to us in pink flowers, shouting geese, and fragrant trees. I stopped a few times to grab pictures of nature, but I decided that I would rather snap pictures with my mind. I heard wind chimes mixed in with an organ playing from a neighboring church. I saw a duck paddling down the creek. I caught a quick glimpse of a deer crossing the path. The sky was so blue, and the air was crisp and....well...spring-like.

Spring tells us that that is hope. It is rebirth. As Scarlett said, "Tomorrow is another day." That is spring. Winter is harsh around here. We grouse at the cold. We grumble at the snow. We curse the ice. The world often looks dark and hard, but when spring blows in with its magnificent colors, we know that life goes on. Joy is right around the corner.

Where do you find God? My husband would say God is on the golf course. Many of my friends find comfort in church with the hymns and bible verses. I often feel God when I go to Sunday morning yoga. But today I found God in Spring.

"She turned to the sunlight
      And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
      "Winter is dead."
